Become a Host Family

2012OrientationHost2_edited.jpg

Thank you for your interest in hosting an international student through the Global Outreach program. By opening your heart and home, you will give an exceptional young person an experience of a lifetime – to live with an American family and experience the language, customs, culture, and faith life of our country. Global Outreach is a unique exchange program that links America with East-Central Europe. We invite American families to participate in the mission of our program to build a civilization of love by invitinghigh school students from post-communist European countries into their homes. This is a way to spread love, peace, and unity among the nations. This is also a great opportunity to learn about other cultures, customs, and faith of people who live in different parts of the world and to share with young people from Europe, experiences of American freedom, tolerance, and openness to other, sometimes very different, people. Global Outreach invites highly qualified students, primarily from Catholic secondary schools, to spend an academic year in the U.S. Catholic high schools. The host schools graciously provide the tuition. As a host family, your responsibilities would include providing room and board for your student, accepting him/her as a member of your family (not a guest) by including him/her in your daily life and routines and supporting him/her in achieving the objectives of the Global Outreach program. GO is, by design, a small program so that careful attention can be given to students and host families. Throughout the year, Global Outreach staff will be in regular contact with you and your student to provide any support either or both of you might need. We are always here for you.
