Attention Central/Eastern European Students: For help with registration, contact Daniel Németh, nemeth.dani@gmail.com camp organizer/correspondent +36-20-773-8804 For more information go to Global Outreach "Hungary" web site http://www.globaloutreach.hu/index.php?q=node/108While our program has invited young people from Central and Eastern Europe to study in the U.S., our summer trip provides an opportunity for American high school students (sophomore or older) and adults, to visit another country and culture. The highlight of the trip will be a week-long leadership camp in Hungary. The camp will be hosted by Global Outreach alumni who have spent a year studying in Catholic high schools in Wisconsin, Nebraska and Minnesota. Over 70 Catholic teenagers from the U.S., Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia, Lithuania and Latvia will participate in the camp. American students are encouraged to apply. Quote from Mary Piette (G.O.'s director) "Many students that come to the camp from Eastern/Central Europe have never spoken to an American, so this is one of the many gifts the American travelers bring." Come and join us! Here's some more information: Trip Dates: July 7th through July 24th. What is the trip all about? This years theme is "Growing as Young Catholic Servant Leaders for the 21 Century - Disciples of Jesus". Global Outreach is a Catholic youth exchange program that has invited young people from Central and Eastern Europe to study in the U.S., while at the same time providing summer trip opportunities to Central Europe for American youth and adults. A common vision for these exchanges is to enable Christian young people to respond to the call of Pope John Paul II “to build a civilization of love.” The end of communism has opened up opportunities for a new generation of Christians to rebuild society from the bottom up. This trip will be led by Tom Kropidlowlski, assisted by Spiritual Director, Fr. Larry Seidl of Green Bay, G.O's Program Director, Camp Program Director Mr. Larry Theiss of Wausau, and Global Outreach Executive Director. Who Can Go? High School-age students, young adults and adults who are interested in a Catholic cultural and youth ministry experience are invited to consider this opportunity. Age preference will be given to high school juniors and seniors. What is the cost? Last years cost was $2695 per person. (There is a possible surcharge in case of higher airfares. $500 deposit due on April 1, 2008.) This includes round-tip airfare (from Wisconsin USA); surface transportation in Europe; 2 meals a day; lodging, and a one-week youth camp. Not included is passport fee, extra meals, travel to and from departure city, sightseeing fees and optional trips (museums, souvenirs, sightseeing, etc.)What will I experience? You will learn about new and exciting cultures, and will meet new people from the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Lithuania and Latvia. You will learn about Catholic traditions in another part of the world, and will share our American culture with European young people at our leadership camp in Hungary. Leaders & Mentors: This trip will be led by Trip Director Tom Kropidlowski, assisted by Fr. Larry Seidl of Green Bay, Program Director Mr. Larry Theiss of Wausau.
